About Crush the Castle 2
Smash the Castle 2 game is a free online game from Armor Games that follows up the popular physics-based flash game, Crush the Castle. This Joey Betz creation continues to follow the Redonvian King and his desire to conquer over all as he decides to take on a new kingdom, Crushtania, and its king, King Blutias. The second in the series has a more inventive storyline and follows a dialogue throughout the game, which adds to the entertainment aspect of this castle smashing game. Players try to pit their knowledge of physics against the precariously balanced towers that make up the enemy castles. In this sequel to Crush the Castle, players will travel to Betsonian Island, The Wilks, North Peak, Terra Conflictus, and Hardington, to name a few, in a quest to crush the castles.
When you play Crush the Castle 2 you will notice that it is very much like it's predecessor - Crush the Castle, as it is a basic physics-based game that pits players and their handy Trebuchet against towers that make up an enemy castle. Luckily for our players, these towers are extremely precarious and seem a bit more like a Lincoln Logs practice than a castle. None-the-less, they must come down and, as Siege Master, the player is responsible for that task. This sequel follows a loose storyline that the predecessor - crush the castle did not.
The game follows Siege Master (the player) and his colleagues, Halgrim the Mason, Cormyn the Engineer, and Mauryl the Great, who is a wizard. While Siege Master orchestrates each attack and is in charge of all of the launches, the other characters offer their expertise to build a stronger arsenal of projectiles. Halgrim assists the plight in the first set of levels and offers crude-yet-useful objects such as logs, stones, and iron shells for ammunition. When Cormyn joins the cause in the second set of levels, bombs in many styles become available. There are single and triple bombs, timed fuse bombs, bombs with detonation switches, and parachute bombs. The last set of rounds incorporates Mauryl's expertise as a mage. The weapons he brings to the mix include the Fire Bomb, An Electric Elixir (a jar full of electric eels), and an Ice Bomb. Once an item is unlocked, it can be used at any time by switching projectiles via the lower tool bar, where ammunition is depicted.
In addition to unlocking ammunitions, there are 20 achievements to be unlocked throughout the game. A huge aid to the entertainment of the game is the evident sense of humour that went into the making of the game. A few of the humorous achievements follow:
- You are Doing it Wrong - Kill an enemy with a detonation bomb without actually detonating it.
- I'm Melting - Kill an enemy by covering them in acid.
- Oh the Humanity! - Set fire to five enemies in one blow.
- Ladies First - Kill a female enemy first in any level.
- Throw Like a Girl - Release the Trebuchet after it has gotten all the way back to its return point, the title 'throw like a girl' certainly does match this achievement in the game.
- Prohibition - Over the course of the game, destroy 100 barrels.
Each level of smash the castle 2 has a different set-up; therefore, a different mode of approach. At the start of each round, players are informed to how many shots they have to kill the entire set of enemies in order to earn a Gold ranking. If the player does not succeed, they may keep on shooting until the enemies all perish, but the achievement Golden God may only be earned with Gold ranking on all levels earned. Any level that has already been passed may be returned to via the Map, if players desire to replay levels to earn the Gold God achievement. In addition, each level is equipped with a hand "Reset" button that restarts that level from the first shot. This is helpful for players that are either going for the perfect score or of course perfectionists.
For the more architecturally minded, the game offers a Castle Builder section, where players can create castles with all the materials the game incorporates and all of the enemy personnel, as well. Once players build the enemy fortresses, they can test them against their own Trebuchet to find out if they are standing on solid ground or if they have a doomed-to-be-crushed castle on their hands. After building the castle, the player can also test it by letting it "Settle," which allows the castle to be saved in the position it ends up in once it settles. A nice feature of Crush the Castle 2 is the "Save" feature.
Players can register with Armor Games to be able to access their game in progress at any time from any computer. This allows players to keep up with their own games and makes for a larger online community of players. Once a player builds a castle that they are proud of they may post them online to the "People's Empire," a forum of user-created castles that numbers well over 400,000 unique castles to add to the game play.
Unlike Crush the Castle 1, the Crush the Castle 2 game follows a more cartoon-like storyline and keeps up a running dialogue between the player and the other characters throughout the game. In addition, the graphics are more detailed and the soundtrack is a touch more exciting, while the familiar grunts, wails, and groans of the deceased have not been taken out, much to the delight of many players. Crush the Castle is more than just a sequel it is a true homage and improvement on a great idea.
Whereas Crush the Castle 1 is an enjoyable game, the second is an even greater game with more enemies, materials, munitions, and a fun storyline to add to the melange. Play Crush the Castle 2 online at Armor games which is part of the crush the castle series. It has also jumped on the apple bandwagon; with it being launched as an application available on for the iPhone as well as an upcoming release for the iPad.
