About Swords and Sandals 2

The Swords and Sandals 2 game brings players back to the Roman Colliseum and sends Gladiators into the ring to earn skill points and gold for defeating increasingly tough opponents. Swords and Sandals 2 has a basic premise: fight until you die, or the less morbid option of defeating your opponent before they can get to you.

swords and sandals 2 game: escape from prison

The game starts with you winning your freedom as a gladiator by defeating a fearful prison, after which you are free to explore the armory and weaponary shops before plunging into the arena.

Players take turns selecting pre-set actions, and these actions are: Walk or jump forward, walk or jump backwards, attack, taunt, or entertain the crowd. In order to win the bout, the enemy must either submit to defeat or die. Through victories, players earn skill points, which they can use to improve their gladiator, and money to buy upgraded items to beef up their battle potential.

Players will spend the majority of their playing time in the Arena. The Arena hosts both duels and tournaments. Duels are a shorter version of the game, which give players the chance to kill or maim an opponent while earning skill points and money. When players reach a certain level, they are able to compete in tournaments. Tournaments are usually four or five duels of increasing difficulty. Players will be pit against the easiest of enemies first, and the champions will be their final opponent, with opponents of increasing difficultly in-between. The goal of the game is to beat all the champion warriors in tournament mode.

Between bouts in the swords and sandals 2 game, players can go back to the village. In the village, players can enter one of four shops available to buy/upgrade items that help their performance in battle. At the Armoury, players purchase various armour items. As players earn money and skills, they are able to purchase more advanced items, which perform better in battle. The locksmith sells weapons including, new to this edition, ranged-weapons such as slingshots and archery weapons. Once players earn higher ranks, skills, and money, they can purchase more dangerous items, which have increased power to do much better damage in battle. There are two new to the game shops in the sequel: the Magic Shop and the Church. The Magic Shop sells spells as well as enchantments. The enchantments are placed on certain weapons to give them extra power in battle. The Church offers potions that can save a Gladiators life during battle.

Perhaps the best part of the game is the rather juvenile graphics, which give a humorous feel. The silly look of Swords and Sandals 2 brings humour to a serious genre. Players can choose their Gladiator's "look" in the beginning of the game. Hair and skin come in a rainbow of colours, and hairstyles and facial hair options are crazy, zany, and wild. In an upgrade from its predecessor, Swords and Sandals 2 offers some different looks such as horns, pointed ears, and ugly noses.

Swords and Sandals 2 game offers an exciting sequel to a game that brings out the fun in battle. The game does not differ too much from the original, but adds a few welcome tweaks to improve upon an already strong concept.

Finished the second game and want more? It's time to take on more Gladiators in Swords and Sandals 3: Solo Ultratus.
